It seems increasingly clear that in the present time many local assemblies have absorbed cultural influences that have greatly undermined the direct authority of God's Word to His people. The concepts that produce success in the world of business, such as CEOs, boards of directors, marketing techniques, and so forth, have no Biblical place in the body of Christ. It is very dangerous for the church to succumb to the worldly mentality that embraces whatever means it takes to achieve what is perceived to be success. The purpose of Christ's body is not to minister to the felt needs of those it is trying to convince to attend its meetings. A democratic, capitalistic, pragmatic, and man-centered philosophy, has in practice exerted an influence overriding the very work of our Redeemer and God. We are called to be salt of the earth, "but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men." (Matthew 5:13You are salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.)
